Do I need to change my governing documents to enable me to apply for alternative sources of funding?

You will need to sit down with the voluntary organisation or community group you are supporting to see what is written in their governing document that may stop them applying for different sources of funding, for example if a document says that a proportion of the funding should always come from a certain source. If this is the case and the group wants to change the document they must check the procedure to do this and follow it exactly.

Some funders also want organisations to have specific policies and procedures in place before they issue funding. Again you will have to check the advice from the funder and then see what policies and procedures are in place.

Charity Builder UK from Tennyson Insurance is able to create certain policies for organisations and is free to use if you are a development worker working in a NAVCA member.
