Advocating Intelligent Commissioning Events - South East

23 March & 15 April

Guildford & Reading

Run in partnership with RAISE

Do you:
  • work for a local infrastructure organisation (LIO) or organisation that provides support to other organisations in the South East region?
  • support local organisations involved in service delivery?
  • work with your local authority or primary care trust on commissioning?
  • want to advocate intelligent commissioning in order to achieve better services?

What the day covers:

  • Good practice in commissioning processes
  • Sharing local experience and knowledge
  • A chance to network and find out what other LIOs in the region are involved with

You will hear from The Institute of Public Care about the public sector perspective of commissioning, learn from other LIOs about their experience of advocating intelligent commissioning and discuss how you can better advocate good practice in commissioning public services.

Presentations at the Guildford seminar from:

  • Voluntary Action Elmbridge - will talk about progress on influencing commissioning in Surrey with the County Council, the borough councils and Surrey NHS.
  • Ashford Community Network - will talk about the 'bridging the gap' project in Ashford on influencing commissioning of health and social care services, including third sector entry to service design forums.

Seminar aims:
By the end of the seminar you will

  • be familiar with principles and concepts of good practice in commissioning public services;
  • have a greater knowledge and understanding of how the principles and concepts translate into practice;
  • know about some of the arguments, tools and resources available for advocating 'intelligent commissioning'.

Overall outcome

You will be better equipped to champion good practice in the commissioning of public services.
