Who is in the directory?
The NAVCA directory lists local and regional
infrastructure organisations in England that are full members,
local affiliates or regional affiliates of NAVCA. National
affiliate organisations are listed separately on the
NAVCA affiliate
page. The directory also contains selected non-member local
infrastructure organisations, particularly where there is no other
local infrastructure coverage.
How do I find my local infrastructure
organisation?
Quick Search
In most cases entering your town or a nearby town in the Quick
Search will bring up local infrastructure organisations that cover
your area. In some cases the quick search will bring up other
organisations as well. Where the name of your town is also part of
the name of another town or area, organisations that swerve these
other places will also be displayed (e.g. searching for
'Chester' shows the local infrastructure
organisations that cover
Chester-le-Street,
Manchester, Dorchester
as well as Chester). In general the
name of the organisation should indicate the closest match for your
area.
Map Search
The map search offers a chance to see all the organisations in a
particular region. If both tick boxes are ticked the search will
show all the local infrastructure organisations contained in that
directory that serve all or part of the region. If both tick boxes
are unticked the results will only show organisations that cover
the whole region and will not show those that cover only part of
the region. If only the 'county-wide' box is ticked the results
will include organisations that work at regional and county level
but not at district level. If the 'district-wide' box is selected
the search will include organisations that work at regional level
and district level but not at county level.
Advanced Search
The
advanced
search allows you to search by more specific
criteria.
There are various search options:
Organisation name: search for organisations with a
particular word or place in their name
Town(s) served: drop-down list of towns served.
Region: drop-down list of regions. If the box is ticked,
this will include organisations that operate at regional, county
and district levels. If it is unticked only organisations that
operate at regional level will be shown.
County: drop-down list of counties. If the 'parts of the
county' box is ticked, this will include organisations that operate
at district level. If the 'region-wide' box is ticked, this will
include organisations that operate at regional level. If both boxes
are unticked only organisations that operate at county level will
be shown.
District: drop-down list of districts. If the
'county-wide' box is ticked, this will include organisations that
operate at county level. If the 'region-wide' box is ticked, this
will include organisations that operate at regional level. If both
boxes are unticked only organisations that operate at district
level will be shown.
NAVCA Quality Award status: drop-down box allowing you to
select organisations that have gained, or are committed to gaining,
the NAVCA quality award,
organisations that have committed to gaining it or organisations
that have either committed to gaining it or have in fact already
gained it. This can be used on its own to view the national picture
or in conjunction with another search to narrow down that search.
For example, you can search for organisations in a county with the
quality award.
Membership status: search to select only full member
organisations or only affiliate organisations. This can be used in
combination with other searches.
We do not recommend that regional, county and district
searches are combined in one search.
LIO Quality Award Map Page
The table shows
the number of members in each region that have gained or have
committed to gaining the NAVCA Quality
Award. Clicking on the relevant region or on the links in the
table give more details of these organisations.
The search results page
The results page displays results based on the criteria and
search performed.
At the top of the results there is a summary of the number of
organisations in the following categories:
- Full members that have gained the NAVCA Quality Award
- Full members that have committed to gaining the NAVCA Quality
Award
- Full members
- Affiliates
- Non-members
An explanation of the requirements for being members and
affiliates are listed on the membership pages.
Details of the NAVCA Quality Award are on the
Quality Award pages.
Where there are no organisations in a particular category, the
category will not show. Clicking on a category will take you to the
part of the page where organisations in that category are listed.
Where the organisations are already visible on the screen, clicking
on a category will not alter the screen.
By clicking on the link for a particular organisation you will see
the 'details page' for that organisation.
No results
If there are no organisations
showing on the results page, try doing a different search with
different criteria. Doing an advanced search and searching by towns
served or by district served, should give results. There are very
few instances where there is no local infrastructure coverage in a
particular area and therefore no results show. However, in general,
performing a different search should give some useful
results.
Too many results
If there are too many
results, you may wish to try a different search, especially an
advanced
search, searching by district or towns served.
If you have used the map search or the advanced search you may wish
to untick the tick boxes to narrow the search.
Detail page
The listing gives the contact details of the organisation.
However the following fields will benefit from further
explanation:
Directory contact: the key contact that the organisation has
provided us with for display in the directory.
Guidestar: this site lists every charity in the UK. By clicking on
the link you can find out more information about the organisation,
including details of financial history and purpose. NAVCA is not
responsible for the content of the Guidestar site.
Location served: this is the local authority area covered by the
organisation. By clicking on the link, the results page will
display other organisations that serve that area or part of it.
Where more than one area is indicated they will work across all the
areas.
Primarily operates at: this indicates the level at which the local
infrastructure organisation primarily works. Regional
infrastructure organisations will generally work with organisations
that have a regional coverage or are county or district
infrastructure organisations. County organisations will tend to
work with organisations that work across the county, and
district-level local infrastructure organisations tend to work with
organisations that are based in the district(s)
indicated.
