Merger and collaboration

There is already a wealth of information on mergers available on the internet and within publications from third sector agencies. The information sources on mergers document (Word, 135KB) is available to download. This provides signposting information to local support and development organisations contemplating mergers.

Our latest case study of the merger of Community Impact Bucks (pdf, 431KB) looks at the bringing together of four local support and development organisations in Buckinghamshire.

The case study of the 3VA merger (pdf, 671KB) in East Sussex describes the reasons behind the merger that took place in 2009, and the main benefits, challenges and learning that have come out of the process.

The case study, 'Anatomy of a merger' gives an overview of the merger that took place to create Cumbria Council for Voluntary Service.

The Warwickshire CAVA case study from Capacitybuilders' Improving Support, describes the merger of four CVS and two Volunteer Centres to create Warwickshire CAVA.

NAVCA support

Many local support and development organisations are looking into how they can work better with one another in order to achieve their mission more effectively and efficiently. Collaboration may involve structural change (e.g. a merger), operational change, or simply consolidating your current ways of working in reference to others.

NAVCA helps members to identify the best approach for them and provides the information and hands-on support they might need - from sharing good practice to facilitation of joint meetings.

To discuss how we might be able to support your organisation with collaborative work or a merger, contact Lindsey Benton.
