The following motion was passed at NAVCA's AGM on 12 September
2007:
Climate change, sustainable development and the local voluntary
and community sector
The NAVCA Trustee Board urges members to resolve as follows:
- That NAVCA encourages all members to adopt a Sustainable
Development Action Plan containing commitments to take practical
action under the five headings: travel wisely; energy efficiency;
buy sustainably; caring for the local environment; reduce and
recycle waste.
- That NAVCA members are asked to promote the aims of Every
Action Counts to local VCS organisations and groups and encourage
them to adopt their own Sustainable Development Action Plans.
- That all NAVCA members, together with their local members, are
urged to register on the
Every Action Counts
website, saying that they heard of the project via NAVCA.
- That all NAVCA members with integrated Volunteer Centres are
requested to recruit Community Champions to provide local
leadership in the context of Every Action Counts, and to ask the
Champions to say that they were recruited by a NAVCA
member.
NAVCA has also signed the
Third
Sector Declaration on Climate
Change.
