The first six NAVCA members have gained the rigorous new
NAVCA Quality
Award. Based on a set of five outcome-focused Performance
Standards, achievement of the NAVCA Quality Award gives an
authoritative endorsement for the effectiveness of these local
infrastructure organisations. The awards were presented at the
NAVCA Annual General Meeting on 20 September 2006.
The NAVCA Quality Award covers the delivery of services to the
local voluntary and community sector. To achieve the Award, local
infrastructure organisations have to demonstrate the quality and
impact of their services, through a rigorous process that includes
an external audit and interviews with service users and
funders.
The first six organisations to gain the NAVCA Quality Award
are:
- Barnet Voluntary Service Council
- Harrogate & Area Council for Voluntary
Service
- Merton Voluntary Service Council
- 2D (Teesdale & Wear Valley CVS)
- Voluntary Action West Kent
- Voluntary Action Westminster
The Quality Award Certificates were presented by Helen
Hughes, National Advisor, Voluntary and Community Sector at the
Improvement and Development Agency for local government
(IDeA).
Kevin Curley, Chief Executive of NAVCA, says "We are delighted to
announce the first six organisations to obtain the new NAVCA
Quality Award. They have demonstrated that they deliver high
quality infrastructure services to their local voluntary and
community sector. More members have already begun working towards
the Award, underlining their commitment to making a difference for
local people. We are also pleased that several local authorities
have signalled their interest in supporting this initiative and in
some cases have offered funding to local infrastructure
organisations to take
part."
