An
article by shadow chancellor George Osborne, published in 'the
Guardian' of 20 August, claims the Conservatives now have the more
progressive social agenda. "Conservatives will tackle the root
causes of poverty and spread opportunity by harnessing the private
and voluntary sectors to help people into work."
NAVCA Chief Executive Kevin Curley responded with a
letter published in 'the Guardian' on 26 August: "Any
Government would be wise to draw on the third sector's experience
as it plans its social programmes and not simply ask us to deliver
them when the decisions have been
made".
