NAVCA and other third sector
organisations have met with Angela Smith to discuss proposed
changes to music licensing and the impact that this will have on
third sector organisations.
The Government proposes that charities and other not for profits
should pay for a licence when they play recorded music in their own
premises. A lot of the media coverage of this issue concentrates on
charity shops but it will also affect local groups and community
centres.
Many thanks to members who sent us information on how this issue
will affect local voluntary and community groups. The meeting
allowed us to explain the impact of the new rules to the
Minister.
NAVCA will be working with other organisations including NCVO
and Community Matters on this issue. We will keep you informed of
progress.
