NAVCA asks local authorities to play fair with the local voluntary sector when making cuts
Following Communities Secretary Eric Pickles saying he would take action against local authorities acting unreasonably towards the local voluntary and community sector, the Chief Executives of NAVCA, NCVO and Acevo have written to all local authority Chief Executives in England suggesting that they should:
- not to pass on disproportionate cuts to local and voluntary groups
- talk to voluntary and community groups at a very early stage about how services need to change
- give at least three months notice about the need to end or alter a grant or other support.
The letter also asks what action they have taken to ensure that the local voluntary and community sector can rely upon these reasonable expectations.
Please do let NAVCA hear your views on how it's going locally, email email@example.com.
If you're involved in a voluntary or community group which has been told its statutory funding will be reduced, you can also share your story via the voluntarysectorcuts website.
