NAVCA members are providers of opportunity

The Cabinet Office has published a document reviewing the progress it has made in the twelve months since it launched the Giving White Paper, in May 2011. The document also sets out priorities for the next year. The report includes a mention of the Transforming Local Infrastructure scheme, which it says supports the providers of opportunity....

Councils and charities are stronger together

Joe Irvin, NAVCA's Chief Executive spoke on Tuesday, 26 June at the LGA annual conference being held at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham. Joe addressed a workshop entitled, 'In it together for communities: councils and the voluntary and community sector'. He told delegates that charities can help councils to make the money they spend go further and boost local economies. However, Joe also gave a warning to councils that charities should not be seen as just service providers. He said that they have a campaigning role which councils should embrace as it can improve policy....

CBE for Kevin Curley

Kevin Curley has been awarded a CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honour's list, announced on Saturday 16 June. The CBE has been awarded to NAVCA's former Chief Executive for his services to the voluntary sector, which included nine year's at NAVCA. ...

Chief officer survey 2012 results

NAVCA has published the results of their annual survey of chief officers. The survey is undertaken to find out about the views of chief officers on topical policy issues and the challenges members and local charities face. This is the fourth year that NAVCA has carried out this survey....

Joe Irvin tells NAVCA Chief Officers to be proud of what they do

Joe Irvin, NAVCA’s Chief Executive, addressed his first big national NAVCA event today, when he opened the Chief Officers’ Residential Event (CORE) 2012. The event is a two day residential event, taking place at Yarnfield Park in Staffordshire. In his speech, Joe told NAVCA chief officers to be proud of what they do and to keep on making the case for infrastructure. He outlined some of the challenges that NAVCA faces and invited members to help NAVCA answer the big questions that NAVCA faces....
