Local giving
Community foundations exist across the UK, holding nearly £200m in endowments between them (as of March 2008), mostly from private sources.
They promote local philanthropy and giving, and are a source of grant funding to encourage voluntary action. For local donors, they make giving to local groups easy, effective, tax efficient and rewarding. For a local community, they understand local needs and match donors with these needs.
