NAVCA coordinates a network of nine Champions for ICT
[Information and Communications Technology] who are working in each
region with local infrastructure members of ChangeUp
consortia.
They are helping them to become more efficient and more
sustainable in their own use of technology and more effective to
the groups they work with.
We believe a strong and successful third sector is essential for
achieving social justice and tackling disadvantage in our
communities and that appropriate use of ICT amplifies the
effectiveness of this work.
Each Champion:
- Is helping LIOs select the ICT support and services they
need by impartially signposting to trusted local
providers.
- Provides information and training to raise awareness of
how both new technology and existing ICT helps
organisations
- Can identify the gaps in ICT support services in each region
and where possible work with existing local infrastructure
providers to share best practice within and across regions to fill
these gaps
- Listens to the needs and issues raised by
local networks to lobby national bodies ensuring policy and funding
developments fully address the ICT needs of the local third
sector.
- Offers a wide range of online and printed resources and
training courses. These helping managers, development workers and
those in with responsibility for the organisations ICT gain the
skills and knowledge they need to make the most of their
ICT.
We don't promote the use of technology for its own sake,
but believe technology must be tailored to reflect people's
needs.
We are committed to working ethically and transparently to
build trust and long lasting relationships.
