What SKiLD can do for development worker networks

Tailor made training

We can run training courses for groups of development workers based in a particular area. We should be able to cover any of the key skills and knowledge that development workers need to support groups well, as well as sessions on more specialist topics too.
£45 a day- for eight or more people

Priority in our training programme

If there are three of more people in your network keen to cover a particular topic, we may be able to include that course in our open training programme - in your area. We'll make sure you know about it, and you can pre-pay and guarantee places for your network members.
£45 per person per day

Action learning sets

With our partners, Action Learning Matters, we can run special action learning sets for groups of six or more development workers. For about 15 days over six months, you find out how an action learning set works, and are trained how to run one yourself.
£250 per person

Participatory Learning and Action

PLA uses creative techniques like mapping, flow charts and timelines to find solutions to groups issues, and help people to take action together to do things differently. Find out more at www.rcpla.org or www.ids.ac.uk. SKiLD can run four-day PLA courses for 8 to 12 development workers: one day preparation; two days residential and a day to follow up.
£260 per person

Free SKiLD support for networks

Setting up new networks

If you've got a group of development workers based in your region or sub-region who want to link up to support each other, we can help and guide you to set up a network. SKiLD can give you ideas, help you plan, and put you in touch with other networks to see how they've done things in their patch.

Supporting existing networks

SKiLD can help networks to evolve and improve. We can
• identify potential new members
• facilitate planning sessions
• offer ideas and information about speakers and resources
• show you free, practical tools to support day-to-day work with groups
• give presentations about learning activities and training from SKiLD, NAVCA and the National Hubs
• promote your events and resources via our email networks and bulletins
• put you in touch with other networks and their co-ordinators

Support for network co-ordinators

Organising and running a development worker network can sometimes be a lonely job! SKiLD can offer a friendly person - who knows their stuff - to talk to; and put you in touch with other co-ordinators. Find out also about SKiLD's Network Advisors' Group.
