SKiLD is funded by - and has been developed as a result of - the
Government's Changeup programme.
Capacitybuilders
is the organisation that has taken over managing ChangeUp. It aims
to create a more effective third sector by improving support for
third sector organisations.
Capacitybuilders is also funding nine new
national
workstreams to target the areas where the sector needs improved
support, through specific activities.
Before this, there were six national hubs of expertise. These have
now been wound down -but you can find assets and resources they
created at the
Improving Support
website.
SKiLD is aiming to equip development workers in
infrastructure organisations with the skills and knowledge they
need to give relevant and high quality support to local third
sector groups.
This improved support should mean that the local voluntary and
community sector can be more effective, efficient and, if
appropriate, better equipped to deliver public services.
