ITNet is the email network for staff who are responsible
for developing the use of ICT in local infrastructure organisations
(LIOs). It provides a forum to:
- share tips
- ask for recommendations when buying equipment
- discuss the advantages of particular software
- comment on general news reports about ICT
- promote ideas about the management of ICT
- discuss how the internet will affect the way
organisations work
- suggest ways to enhance the use of ICT within the
voluntary and community sector.
In different organisations the person with responsibility
for ICT could be:
- a dedicated internal ICT worker
- a worker from a project which offers ICT support to local
voluntary and community organisations
- the chief officer
- an information worker
- an admin worker
- anybody else with a particular interest in or aptitude
for ICT.
Whoever it is, they are usually the only person
responsible for ICT. They can feel isolated and that they lack
support and have nobody to discuss ICT matters with. Sometimes they
suffer from a lack of understanding about their role amongst
colleagues, and they can feel that there is a lack of awareness
about what could and should, be achievable.
The network is also open to voluntary and community
organisations that work with, support and complement the work of
LIOs.
