The first annual Trustees' Week will be held 25-31 October 2010. The week is being led by the Charity Commission in partnership with NCVO, CTN, Reach, Getting on Board, the ICAEW and others. It aims to raise the profile of becoming a trustee and to celebrate the great work of trustees around the country.

Shining on a Shoestring
Our new networking and development event, designed and priced with the needs of smaller LIOs in mind, and aimed at chief officers, senior managers and trustees. Shining on a Shoestring was held on 3 February 2010 in Reading. Follow the link to access the presentations and information from the event.


E-networking


navcaboodle is our growing professional and social networking website for third sector colleagues to dicuss and share experiences. Navcaboodle has discussion groups on various topics of relevance to LIOs.

Governance resources

We have produced a model memorandum and articles of association for LIOs with accompanying guidance.

In April and May 2010, 11 NAVCA members kindly shared information on how they organise their own membership schemes (xls, 502KB).


Five NAVCA members have kindly agreed to share their trustee induction packs.


NCVO provides an online Trustee and Governance Information Centre and a range of publications on governance and trusteeship.

The Code of Good Governance's refashioned principles are also available there, and the supporting material will be available from the end of July.

The National Occupational Standards for Trustees are available from the Skills-Third Sector website.

The Charity Commission website contains a wealth of information relevant to charities and good governance. This includes guidance on preparing on preparing annual reports, information about public benefit reporting, and toolkits on collaboration and mergers.

The Charity Trustee Network (CTN) website provides a range of resources to support trustees.

The TrusteeWorks website has a resources section with support for trustee recruitment and governance in general.
