set2lead front coverIn our Inspiring local leadership report published in February 2011, NAVCA made a commitment to support the development of our members' leadership in every area in England. This prompted us to ask our members' Chief Officers about the challenges they face in leading their organisations and the local sector and the skills and support they need to address those challenges.

This report takes an in-depth look at the responses. The message that comes out loud and clear is that NAVCA Chief Officers are doing an extraordinary job in extraordinary times. The report highlights that they do however need support to cope with the real challenges they face, especially in an increasingly competitive and commercialised environment. A really pleasing finding from this research is the value that Chief Officers place on peer support. This confirms our view that we are strongest when we support each other as a movement.

We are using the information in the report to develop a programme of support for Chief Officers and senior management team members to enhance their leadership skills and experiences. Click here for more details.
