Developing the Children's Workforce

NAVCA is working with the Children's Workforce Development Council to help build the skills of staff and volunteers in the third sector who work with children. Working through our network of local infrastructure organisations (LIOs), NAVCA is reaching out to people who may not be aware of recent changes in policy and practice in relation to children and young people, and how these changes affect their work.

The project aims to ensure that local third sector organisations have the necessary skills and knowledge to:

engage with and influence the workforce development agenda in their area

support the development of people who work with children.

The main activities of the project in 2008-09 will be training and events, publications, an e-mail network, web and e-mail information, and a small grants scheme. Further information about these activities will appear on these pages as the project develops.

Good practice

To help us share and develop good practice, NAVCA is keen to hear from practitioners in LIOs about local activities relating to children's workforce development. Please contact Dianne Leyland, NAVCA's Children's Workforce Adviser.

NAVCA has put together a snapshot of children's workforce development activities across the third sector. Please let us know about your work so that we can keep this up to date.
