This new NAVCA project funded by the Big Lottery Fund until 2009
aims to build the capacity of voluntary and community local
infrastructure organisations to develop their skills and knowledge
to:
- influence local government policy and service planning
- support the engagement of disadvantaged communities in decision
making about service delivery
- extend reach to black and minority ethnic communities, disabled
people and other marginalised people and communities.
The ILP project will influence local and national policy
through:
- 12 Pilot Projects
across the country in targeted areas
- good practice dissemination for all local infrastructure
organisations
- partnership work with national and regional VCS organisations
and local government agencies.
In line with NAVCA aims and objectives the project will:
- provide assistance and information to improve the quality
of support and development activities for local voluntary and
community sector organisations
- support local infrastructure organisations to increase
their influence on local partnerships (in particular local public
service agreements and local area agreements)
- promote collaboration between generalist and specialist
infrastructure organisations to support the inclusion of all local
VCS groups in local partnership processes.
