Creating the right environment to enable disadvantaged
people and communities to participate in the decisions about the
nature of local public services is a key pillar of the Government's
10 year vision for local government. Engaging disadvantaged people
and communities is easier to legislate for than to implement.
Nonetheless the current policy climate creates a genuine
opportunity to develop better services for disadvantaged people and
communities.
NAVCA believe that the voluntary and community sector has
the skills and knowledge to ensure that disadvantaged people and
communities can participate in decisions that affect
them.
