NAVCA's health and social care support

NAVCA supports local support and development organisations on a wide range of topics relating to health and social care including:

To discuss how we can support your health and social care work, please contact Jon Burke, Development Adviser (Social Care & Health)

Personalisation

Social care and health services are being transformed to give people more choice, flexibility and control over their own lives. The term used to describe these changes is 'personalisation'. NAVCA offers support to members by:

  • helping members to engage local voluntary organisations with this agenda and helping you identify and respond to the opportunities and challenges it presents
  • providing information, learning opportunities and sharing good practice
  • developing practical resources so local voluntary organisations can be more involved in shaping personalisation.

Strengthening involvement in health and social care

We can support you in your work to involve the local voluntary sector and local communities in health and social care by:

  • promoting your role in co-ordinating local voluntary sector involvement in health and social care strategic planning and needs analysis
  • developing training materials to help you strengthen health and social care representation
  • supporting members currently acting as host organisastions for Local Involvement Networks, Healthwatch, or other mechanisms for patient and public involvement in health and social care

Health and social care commissioning

We can help you engage the local sector in shaping social care and health services to meet people's needs.

We can help you involve local voluntary organisations in the delivery of social care and community based health services.

For help from our Local Commissioning and Procurement Unit (LCPU) on health and social care commissioning and procurement issues, call the advice line on: 0114 289 3989 and visit the minisite at www.navca.org.uk/lcpu

Volunteering

We can support you to develop new volunteering opportunities in health and social care.

We help ensure the Department of Health's Strategic Vision for Volunteering is implemented at a local level.

Health inequalities

We support work to reduce health inequalities by sharing good practice and raising awareness of important issues and campaigns.
