We take your privacy seriously and are committed to protecting your personal information. We aim to be clear and open about our data and security practices. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy notice will inform you as to how we look after your personal data, and about your privacy rights and how the law protects you.

Where we ask you to provide us with any information by which you can be identified, it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement, and in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2018.

You have the right to make a complaint at any time to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority for data protection issues (www.ico.org.uk). We would appreciate the chance to deal with your concerns directly so please contact us in the first instance.

You can ask us to stop sending you information about our activities or services at any time by following the opt-out links on any message sent to you, or by contacting us at any time.

 

Lawful bases for processing data

 

Performance of contract means processing your data where it is necessary for the performance of a contract to which you are a party or to take steps at your request before entering into such a contract.

 

Legitimate Interest means the interest of our business in conducting and managing our business to enable us to give you the best service and the best and most secure experience. We make sure we consider and balance any potential impact on you (both positive and negative) and your rights before we process your personal data for our legitimate interests. We do not use your personal data for activities where our interests are overridden by the impact on you (unless we have your consent or are otherwise required or permitted to by law).

 

Compliance with a legal or regulatory obligation means processing your personal data where it is necessary for compliance with a legal or regulatory obligation that we are subject to.

Purposes of processing data

If your organisation applies to join NAVCA, we will use the data you provide to process the application and to manage membership. If your organisation is admitted to membership, we will retain that information, and any other data provided during the term of membership, for the duration of membership and for a period of six years after the membership terminates. If your organisation is not admitted to membership, we will retain that information for one year after the conclusion of the application process.

If you enter into a contract with NAVCA, for example for service provision, we will retain all the information contained within the contract for a period of two years.

If you apply for a job with NAVCA, we will retain all the information contained within your application for a period of nine months from the date the recruitment process is completed. If you are successful, all the information contained within your application will be retained in line with our policy on retention of staff data.

If you sign up to our newsletter, we will use your contact information to send you our monthly newsletter, NAVCA Connect, as well as occasional news about events and other relevant information.  You can unsubscribe at any time. If you unsubscribe, we will not retain your data.

If you book a place at one of our events, including online events, we will use the information you give us to manage your booking and send updates about the relevant event. You can unsubscribe at any time. If you unsubscribe, we will not retain your data.

We will never share your personal data with any third parties, and you can contact us at any time to ask us to change your preferences or delete your personal information from our database.
