Alliance42 exists because health inequalities persist, and real health creation happens in communities.

We represent the majority of ICS-VCSE Alliances  across England’s 42 Integrated Care Systems, providing a collective national voice to ensure the local VCSE sector is embedded in decision-making, service delivery, and funding structures.

With NAVCA as the secretariat, together, we drive a fairer, more community-led health and care system that prioritises prevention and wellbeing.

Vision

Our vision is a healthier, fairer society where people live full and healthy lives, supported in their communities by local VCSEs, in partnership with health and care organisations.

Mission

Alliance42 exists to drive systemic change in health and care by embedding the local VCSE sector at the heart of decision-making and service delivery within Integrated Care Systems (ICSs).

What we do

Coordinate peer support and shared learning across all ICS-VCSE Alliances

Influence national policy through collective insight and evidence

Advocate for sustainable funding and structural inclusion of the VCSE sector in ICSs

Strengthen leadership through our regional Leadership Group and working groups

Connect local Alliances to national conversations on prevention, inequalities and system reform

How we work

Alliance42 operates through a distributed leadership model. Each NHS region is represented by a member of the Alliance42 Leadership Group, experienced ICS-VCSE Alliance leaders who guide the network’s strategy and priorities.

The group meets regularly to share insights from across England, agree collective positions, and influence national policy and system developments.

NAVCA provides secretariat support, facilitates connections, and ensures that intelligence gathered through the network informs both Alliance42’s priorities and NAVCA’s wider national policy work.

The network also gathers real-time insights from ICS-VCSE Alliances, enabling us to highlight challenges, share good practice, and advocate for meaningful change rooted in community experience.
