Volunteering is integral to thriving communities. Our members encourage and nurture local volunteering opportunities, so that people can build connections and work together on things they care about, driving positive change.

We want to make sure that volunteering is more inclusive, accessible and collaborative. That’s why we’re a partner in the Vision for Volunteering, a framework for improving the volunteering landscape through exploring five different themes:

  • Awareness and appreciation
  • Power
  • Equity and inclusion
  • Collaboration
  • Experimentation.

We work with our members and the other Vision for Volunteering partners (NCVO, Volunteering Matters, Association of Volunteer Managers and Sport England, Muslim Charities Forum and DCMS) to bring the Vision to life locally, focusing on collaboration and coproduction.

For NAVCA members, we provide tools and resources around volunteering and engaging local communities, as well as running regular networks.

We have also made our own commitments to the future of volunteering:

  • We will support our members to develop strong local ecosystems for volunteering, so that everyone can volunteer in ways that are meaningful to them.
  • We will develop the VCQA (Volunteer Centre Quality Accreditation), to recognise and celebrate volunteer centres who provide high-quality local support.
  • We will collaborate with members and partners to measure and demonstrate the impact of local volunteering.
