When people take action on the things that matter to them — whether that’s litter-picking, running a local sports club, or creating spaces to talk about mental health — they build stronger, more resilient communities. Across the country, hundreds of thousands of organisations make up a vibrant voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector, doing vital work that helps people and places to thrive.‍ But what exactly does the VCSE sector do — and what do all those different parts mean?

Access Insurance (Chartered Insurance Brokers to the third sector) have created a guide for NAVCA members on contractual liability. It’s designed to help senior decision-makers spot contract clauses that could leave charities with costs their insurance won’t cover.

In early 2024, NAVCA partnered with Cadent Gas to deliver the Centres for Warmth Fund – building on the existing network of warm spaces and community hubs across the country. Working through NAVCA members, the programme has invested in trusted local organisations to increase capacity, strengthen resilience, and connect communities with vital advice and resources.

Volunteering is at the heart of what local infrastructure organisations do. Every community is different, and NAVCA members work closely with them to meet local needs. Many local infrastructure organisations run their own volunteering platforms, connecting people with opportunities that work for them and helping charities and community groups reach a local audience.

We’re delighted to share that NAVCA will be working in partnership with Clinks, the national infrastructure charity supporting voluntary organisations working with people in the criminal justice system and their families.
